Adventurous training, sport and ‘B Company’s Got Talent’ – a great weekend camp

B Company camp took place this weekend at the Dechmont Training Centre in Cambuslang. 118 cadets from the company attended the camp which  focused on adventurous training and sports activities. The aim of the camp was to provide safe and exciting activities for the cadets to enjoy before they head off in 6 weeks time for their 2 week annual camp at Otterburn.

During the course of the weekend the cadets had the opportunity of taking part in activities such as:- Canoeing, Kayaking, Climbing, Abseiling, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery, Command Tasks, Inflatable Obstacle Course and much more. The weather certainly didn’t let us down either with glorious sunshine all day Saturday, making a change from our recent spell of rain and wind.

A number of cadets also received Paddlesport qualifications in Canoeing & Kayaking at Start and One Star levels during the weekend.

On Saturday evening the cadets had the opportunity of showcasing their talents at our ‘B Company’s Got Talent’ event. 15 acts performed on the night comprising singers, dancers, impressionists, guitar players and comedians. After a close finish, Cdt Dunbar from E PL RHF Beardmore was crowned the winner after his rendition of Highland Cathedral on the Saxophone. He received the £50 prize for his detachment.

Captain Darren Hughes, OC B Coy told Reporting G&L:

‘It was a fantastic weekend for all involved. B Company is now looking forward to Annual Camp where the successes will continue’.
