Glasgow cadets remember those who fell at the Battle of Loos

Sixteen cadets from F Pl RHF (Glasgow Highlanders) represented the Battalion at the Battle of Loos Commemoration Service at Glasgow Cathedral on Sunday 27th September.

The Service, attended by delegations from the Regular Army, the Army Reserves and veterans’ associations as well as the ACF was held to commemorate all those who lost their life in the first Battle of Loos, known as ‘the big push’. This was the first large scale allied offensive of World War 1, which sadly ended in disaster, with the loss of over 20,000 lives.

Every one of the then Scottish regiments was represented at the Battle, which meant that the large scale loss of life was felt particularly deeply throughout Scotland.
