At the end of the return leg of last year’s exchange visit to Canada our friends from the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada have returned home after a two week visit to Scotland.
Our pictures show some of their many adventures from a day in the Cairngorm Mountains to meeting the First Minister of Scotland and the Lord Provost of Glasgow.
The last few days of their visit was spent with the Battalion at Barry-Buddon for the Easter Weekend Camp where they got fully involved in the training and met the Brigade Commander.
Captain Mark Iredale, the OIC of the party, told Reporting G&L:
It was a great visit. Not only visiting the many interesting places in Scotland (including Urquhart Castle where we raised the Canadian flag!) but meeting so many hospitable people.
In many ways the two cadet forces are very different but when the cadets get together they are like one.
So many of our cadets made friends when the Scottish cadets visited us in Canada last year and it was great to see them all meet up again.
Cdt Sgt Amy Sheridan of the Glasgow and Lanarkshire Battalion told us:
Going to Canada on the exchange visit was an adveture – not only did we have loads of great experiences there – we made lots of friends and it’s great that many of them have visited us in Scotland for the return trip. Renewing friendships was very emotional and some of us are planning a private trip to Canada soon – just so we can meet up with our Canadian friends again.
