The Initial Officer Training Residential at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst was a fantastic weekend and it was good to see again some of the people who were with me at CFCB Westbury.
The presentation of a Four Star award is always an important event both for the cadet and for the detachment. However at Coalburn last night the presentations took on a particular significance for Lt Chris Peacock, now a Battalion Assistant Training Officer, because the two girls involved were his first recruits when he had just been appointed a Detachment Commander at 5 Pl RSB, five years ago.
Cadets from our Pipes and Drums detachment will be joining around 200 cadets at the Cadet Piping and Drumming Concentration to be held at Cameron Barracks, Inverness, from this Saturday 8th April.
A total of 16 Battalion cadets have been awarded Cadet Hundred badges following the final round of the UK small bore competition and 3 are in the top ten:
B Company held their first company camp of 2017 at Dechmont CTC on the weekend of 10-12 February.
The Army Cadet Force has published the results of its ATTITUDE survey which invited CFAVs and cadets to comment on life in the cadets.
The Battalion held a First Aid at Work (FAW) course at Dechmont CTC last weekend.

Five Battalion teams are in the top eight places in the Cadet Hundred Small Bore shooting competition.
This week Cadet Sergeant Sophie Graham from 3 Tp Royal Engineers has been on the Salisbury Plain Training Area for a pilot Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) camp run by the Regular Army for members of the Cadet Forces who have an interest in pursuing careers in one of the above areas.
The Battalion had a very successful day at the 51 Brigade Target Rifle Shooting Competition at Barry-Buddon.
The A Team had a clean sweep, winning every trophy.

The results for the first round of the ACF small bore Cadet Hundred Competition and the ACF competition for the News of the World Challenge Cup are in and the Battalion is leading the way with 16 cadets in the top 50 of the individual Cadet 100 and 6 teams in the top 10 in the team competition led by A Pl RHF in first place.
The final shoulder to shoulder round of the Bn Air Rifle Competition for the Lean Cup took place this afternoon at the cadet centre in Easterhouse.
The run of Company Weekends at Dechmont continued last weekend with B Company. It was a weekend of theory and practical Skill at Arms training for cadets at every APC star level to increase their skills in weapon handling drills.
Last weekend saw C Company training at our Dechmont Cadet Training Centre. Lots of happy smiling faces despite the miserable weather as the cadets took part in a wide range of APC subjects including Skill at Arms, First Aid and Small Bore Shooting.

LBdr Connor Adens received the award for being the Best Individual Cadet at the Royal Artillery Competition – a military skills event sponsored by the RA for the ACF and CCF in the UK. The teams of 10 cadets are tested in all aspects of the Army Proficiency Syllabus. Continue reading

Ten teams fired in the final of the annual Battalion air rifle competition for the Lean Cup at the new cadet centre at Easterhouse on Sun 7 Dec 14.
