On Thursday 2nd February 2017, 21 members of Glasgow & Lanarkshire Battalion took part in the 4th Poland Project. This educational project involved cadets from 7 detachments undertaking research and completing 3 workbooks on the atrocities of WWII.
With various 100th anniversaries occurring in 2017, including the Battles of Arras and Cambrai, and following the success of the 2015 Battlefield Tour, ACFA Scotland is organising another Tour this year.
22 members of the Battalion departed yesterday for this year’s Poland Project, which will include visiting Krakow to learn about the Holocaust and how the city has adapted since the war. The trip will include a visit to the Auschwitz concentration camp.

B Company cadets take part in a service to commemorate the Battle of High Wood, where on 15 and 16 July 1916, 192 men of the Glasgow Highlanders TA Battalion were killed in action.
At the end of the return leg of last year’s exchange visit to Canada our friends from the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada have returned home after a two week visit to Scotland.

A fantastic week of skiing by Battalion cadets in the resort of Alpendorf. The experienced ones honed their techniques gained on previous trips and the first timers went from ‘Bambi on ice’ to proficient skiers.
The countdown to an educational visit to Poland has begun for a group of cadets and CFAVs from the Battalion.
On Wednesday 7th October, 16 cadets and 6 Cadet Force Adult Volunteers from across the Battalion travelled across the pond to take part in the two week Canadian Exchange.
On Sunday the 7th of June 2015, 30 cadets and 9 adults from 7 battalions around Scotland gathered at Barry Buddon Camp ready to embark on an adventure of a lifetime to commemorate the Anniversary of the Battle of Loos in 1915 which featured a lot of Scottish Soldiers. Continue reading
ACFA Scotland is organising a commemorative Battlefield Tour on the anniversary of the Battle of Loos.
The Battle of Loos was the largest British offensive mounted in 1915 on the Western Front and involved forty-two battalions drawn from across Scotland. The Army Cadet Force Association Scotland is organising a tour to the area where the battle was fought and there is the opportunity for four Senior Cadets from the Battalion to attend. Seven adults and thirty-six cadets from A Troop RA have just returned from their annual skiing trip to Austria. Based at the Mühlthaler hotel in Kuchl in the Salzburg region, the visits have been happening for the last 5 years and have proved very popular with the cadets. Continue reading
